Vitality Rose Funmi Fadoju shares that she wishes she knew more about how her menstrual cycle affected her training.

“I wish I knew earlier that if I actually track it, then I could adapt my sessions.”

The hormones of the menstrual cycle are responsible for all the changes that the female body goes through at different times of the cycle. So, for an elite athlete like Funmi, when there’s international games on the horizon, or training camps and recovery sessions to manage normal life around, then tracking where her body is at in the menstrual cycle is a game changer. 

Since learning more about how the menstrual cycle is made up of phases related to female hormones, Vitality Rose Tash Pavelin values information she has gained around how this affects her body and feelings.

Looking back, she wishes she had cut herself a bit more slack with the knowledge of her cycle in mind, and how different phases of affect the female body; also noting that open and honest conversations between teammates is important to create a supportive environment for all.
